Brothers Assault Elderly Parents Over Land Dispute in Maharashtra

Two brothers allegedly assaulted their elderly father and mother with wooden sticks on a public road in Maharashtra's Indapur area over a land dispute, an incident captured on video that has since circulated widely on social media. The attack occurred on the evening of August 30, 2026, near the Salim Lawns area within Tarangwadi village, close to Indapur city in Pune district. The victims have been identified as 65-year-old Tukaram Kisan Raut and his wife, Anjana Raut. According to police and the complaint filed by Tukaram, the couple was out for a walk when their sons, Sanjay Tukaram Raut and Rajendra Tukaram Raut, arrived in a car and confronted them. The dispute centered on the sale of land reportedly registered in the name of their mother, Anjana. The sons allegedly questioned their father, demanding to know why he had sold the property and threatening them if the transaction was not canceled. The confrontation escalated into violence. The brothers allegedly abused their parents and then attacked them with wooden sticks in the middle of the road. Tukaram sustained injuries to his back, face, thighs, and left shoulder. Anjana was struck on her right wrist and waist.
