Brennan wins fourth Vuelta stage on Grand Tour debut

British cyclist Matthew Brennan secured his fourth stage victory at the Vuelta a España on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, cementing a remarkable Grand Tour debut for the 21-year-old Visma-Lease a Bike rider. Brennan won the bunch sprint finish on Stage 16, a 181.1-kilometer route from Cortegana to Palos de la Frontera on Spain's southern coast, after being delivered to the front by his experienced teammate Wout van Aert. The victory, Brennan's fourth individual stage win, brought the Dutch team's total haul at this year's race to six.
