Brazil beat India 4-0 in first senior international meeting

Published 4 October 2026

Brazil beat India 4-0 in the first senior men’s international meeting between the teams, scoring twice in each half in a friendly at Kolkata’s Salt Lake Stadium on October 3. Estevão and Pedro put Brazil ahead before halftime, and Samuel Lino scored twice after the break to complete the win. The result marked the senior sides’ first meeting and Brazil’s first appearance in India. The visitors took time to break through an India side that challenged them in the opening period, but Estevão opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a low shot from the right side of the attack. He then set up Pedro, whose attempt made it through goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu in the 42nd minute. India sought to respond after the interval. Ryan Williams had an effort cleared off the line, while Manvir Singh also tried to create opportunities. Brazil maintained its lead and added a third in the 58th minute after India lost possession in its defensive third. Lino converted the resulting opening, then scored again in stoppage time to make it 4-0. Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti made five substitutions at halftime, including bringing on Lino.
