Brad Pitt Officially Developing World War Z Sequel

Brad Pitt is officially developing a sequel to the 2013 film World War Z, with Edward Berger attached to direct and Dennis Kelly writing the screenplay. The project marks the most concrete progress on a long-gestating follow-up to the highest-grossing zombie movie of all time, which grossed over $540 million worldwide. Pitt will return to star and produce through his company Plan B, alongside partners Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner. Berger, who recently directed Pitt in the upcoming film The Riders, will also serve as an executive producer. Paramount Pictures is the studio behind the project, though no production start date, release window, or plot details have been officially confirmed. The announcement follows years of development challenges. A previous version of the sequel, with director David Fincher attached and Kelly writing, was scrapped by Paramount in 2019. That iteration had reportedly been staffing up for an international shoot before the studio pulled the plug. Pitt's persistence in reviving the project has been a constant, with the actor reportedly beginning to pitch Berger on the sequel during the production of The Riders.
