Boy, 11, critical after shooting inside Sydney home

An 11-year-old boy was shot in the face and neck inside a home in Norwest, in Sydney's Hills District, about 5pm on Monday, September 21, 2026, and remains in hospital in critical condition, police said. Paramedics treated the child at the scene before rushing him to Westmead Children's Hospital. One report said he was conscious and speaking with paramedics before his condition worsened en route. Police Superintendent Naomi Moore said the boy's mother was at his bedside. Four 18-year-old men and a woman were also inside the home at the time and were unharmed. Three of the men were arrested; two were released pending further inquiries. Isaac Bechara, 18, was charged with concealing a serious indictable offence and was refused bail at Blacktown Local Court on Tuesday. The firearm used has not been located, and no firearms are registered to the address, police said. Tactical officers and a police helicopter searched the property and adjacent parkland, and a large exclusion zone was established. The State Crime Command's Homicide Squad was notified. Police have given differing accounts of possible underworld connections.
