Bose launches Ultra Open 2nd Gen and new Sport Open earbuds

Published 17 September 2026

Bose announced two new open-ear earbud models on Wednesday, expanding its lineup with the Ultra Open Earbuds 2nd Gen and the new Sport Open Earbuds. Preorders for both devices begin on September 19, with a general release date of October 1, according to the company's announcement. The Ultra Open Earbuds 2nd Gen, priced at $299, serve as the successor to the original model released in 2024. Bose describes this as its flagship open-ear experience, featuring a refined cuff-clip design with a new beveled finish on the metallic caps. The updated earbuds include a redesigned case that now supports wireless charging and can stand upright. Internally, a new driver is engineered to deliver deeper bass and higher volume than the first generation. The model also introduces Cinema Mode, powered by Bose TrueSpatial technology, which aims to create a more immersive soundstage for video content. Battery life has been extended to up to nine hours, with the wireless charging case providing an additional 20 hours. The new Sport Open Earbuds, priced at $199, are designed for athletes and active use.
