Boox Announces Palma 3 E-Reader With Aluminum Build and Android 16

Boox has announced the Palma 3, a compact e-reader that upgrades the company's popular palm-sized device with a premium build, a newer operating system, and optional stylus support. The device, which follows the 2024 Palma 2, is part of a broader refresh that also includes the Note Air6 C and Note Mini C, all running Android 16. The Palma 3 features a 6.13-inch, 300 ppi E Ink screen, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage, specifications that remain largely unchanged from its predecessor. The most significant hardware update is the new anodized aluminum frame and a fiberglass backplate, replacing the plastic design of previous models. This gives the device a more premium, phone-like appearance. It also supports the optional Boox InkSense Plus stylus for note-taking and annotation, a feature that first appeared on the Palma 2 Pro. The device runs Android 16, a notable upgrade from the Palma 2's Android 13. This brings the e-reader closer to the software found on modern smartphones, though it still lags behind the latest Android 17 releases.
