Bolt and Lucid Partner to Deploy 25,000 Autonomous Vehicles in Europe

Estonian ride-hailing platform Bolt and U.S. electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid Motors announced a nonbinding partnership on Thursday to deploy at least 25,000 driverless Lucid crossovers across Europe. The agreement, which involves no committed funds or vehicle orders, aims to create a large-scale autonomous taxi network as part of Bolt's broader goal to host 100,000 autonomous vehicles on its platform by 2035. The planned fleet will be built on Lucid's upcoming Midsize platform and is expected to integrate NVIDIA's Hyperion compute and sensor suite. However, the specific autonomous driving software that would enable the vehicles to operate without a human driver has not yet been named. The companies stated they will work with third-party autonomous driving technology partners to develop the necessary system. Bolt, which operates in over 850 cities across more than 50 countries, will lead the initiative through its dedicated unit, Bolt Autonomous Driving Solutions. This division will define vehicle requirements, build fleet infrastructure, and establish city partnerships. Bolt intends to own and operate the fleet itself.
