Bihar Police Case Over Photo on Chief Minister’s X Account

Bihar Police registered a case against Sagar Prasad, a stenographer in the chief minister’s office, over an unblurred photograph of a minor and her family that appeared briefly on Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary’s official X account. Police identified Prasad as the person who uploaded the image, but his alleged role remains under investigation. The photograph accompanied a post about Choudhary’s meeting with the girl and her family at his official residence in Patna on Thursday, September 24. It was deleted within minutes. In its complaint, police said the image’s circulation could compromise the minor’s privacy and risk exposing her identity. The case was registered at the Secretariat police station in Patna on Friday, September 25. Police said the case also concerns people who may have forwarded or circulated the post. Reports said it invokes provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Information Technology Act. No conclusion about who uploaded the image or whether a legal violation occurred has been reported. The post followed the September 19 incident in Jamui district involving the girl and a male friend.
