Bethany Platt’s pregnancy revealed in Coronation Street

Coronation Street revealed that Bethany Platt is pregnant after an encounter with Kit Green, her mother Sarah’s former boyfriend, leaving Bethany facing a decision about the pregnancy and whether to tell her family. The development appeared in the episode dated October 13, which was available early on ITVX and scheduled for ITV1 at 8:30 p.m. The episode showed Bethany taking a pregnancy test and discovering a positive result. The encounter with Kit had taken place weeks earlier. Sarah was in prison at the time, and Bethany has since been rebuilding her relationship with Ryan Connor, adding further complications to the storyline. Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany, said her character is shocked by the result and must decide whether to continue the pregnancy or have a termination. Fallon said Bethany initially considers termination, but described the choice as difficult. The episode and Fallon’s comments do not establish what Bethany ultimately decides. Fallon also said Bethany intends, for now, to hide the pregnancy from Sarah because she fears the effect of the truth on their relationship. She described Bethany as feeling guilty and said the secret could weigh on her.
