Benzema and Al Hilal mutually terminate contract

Karim Benzema has left Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal after the two parties mutually agreed to terminate his contract, the club announced on August 31, 2026. The French striker's departure comes just months after he joined the Riyadh-based team, ending a brief but impactful spell in which he helped the club win the Kings Cup. Al Hilal confirmed the termination in a statement, expressing appreciation for Benzema's contributions, professionalism, commitment, and leadership both on and off the pitch. The club's board, headed by Prince Nawaf bin Saad, extended its thanks and wished him success in his next chapter. According to the club, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal covered the value of the contractual settlement, allowing the agreement to be formally ended. Benzema, 38, posted his own farewell on social media, stating he was grateful to the club, his teammates, staff, and fans, and wishing Al Hilal all the best for the future. Benzema joined Al Hilal in early 2026 after leaving fellow Saudi side Al Ittihad. During his time with Al Hilal, he made 16 appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing five assists.
