Bengaluru Raids Seize 1.38 Crore Rupees in Expired Food

Food safety officials in Bengaluru have seized expired and mislabelled food products and medicines valued at approximately 1.38 crore rupees during a special enforcement drive. The inspections targeted dark stores and storage facilities operated by online delivery platforms, including Amazon and Swiggy Instamart, as well as other supply chain units across the city. Authorities conducted checks on food products sold through e-commerce platforms to ensure compliance with mandatory labelling requirements, manufacturing and expiry dates, shelf life, and other food safety standards. They also verified that medicines were stored with the necessary licenses. At Amazon's BLR6 facility in Devanahalli, officials confiscated food products worth 14 lakh rupees for incorrect or inadequate labelling and an additional 10 lakh rupees worth of expired food. Medicines valued at over 2.45 lakh rupees were also seized for allegedly being stored without a license. At Amazon's BLR7 facility in Anekal, food products worth 19 lakh rupees were seized for labelling violations, alongside 13 lakh rupees worth of expired food. Medicines worth approximately 1.
