Ben Simmons Signs Nonguaranteed Deal With Kings

Ben Simmons has signed a one-year, nonguaranteed contract with the Sacramento Kings worth up to $3.5 million, giving the former No. 1 overall pick a chance to revive his NBA career after sitting out the entire 2025-26 season. The Kings officially announced the signing on Tuesday but did not disclose terms, per team policy. New details reported Wednesday by Michael Scotto show the deal is nonguaranteed, and that Simmons will earn $1 million if he is on the roster when Sacramento opens the regular season on October 21 against the Los Angeles Clippers. Simmons' representatives originally told ESPN the term and maximum possible payout from the agreement. The structure limits Sacramento's financial exposure while giving the 30-year-old three-time All-Star an opportunity to prove he can still contribute. If he fails to make the opening-night roster, the Kings owe little or nothing on the deal. Simmons reportedly visited Sacramento before signing, undergoing medical exams, an on-court workout, and meetings with coach Doug Christie and other members of the organization.
