Bears Sign D'Andre Swift to Three-Year Extension

The Chicago Bears have agreed to a three-year, $33.75 million contract extension with running back D'Andre Swift, securing a key offensive player just before the start of the 2026 NFL season. The deal, reported on September 11, 2026, includes $27.5 million in guaranteed money. Swift was entering the final year of a previous three-year, $24 million contract he signed with the Bears in 2024. The extension keeps him under contract through the 2029 season. The agreement was finalized two days before the Bears' season opener against the Carolina Panthers on September 14. The new contract rewards Swift for a career-best 2025 season in which he set personal highs with 1,087 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns. He also led the team with 223 carries and recorded 34 catches for 299 receiving yards and a touchdown. His performance helped the Bears improve from 25th in the NFL in rushing offense in 2024 to third in the league last season. Bears head coach Ben Johnson, who previously worked with Swift during his tenure as the Detroit Lions' offensive coordinator, has indicated plans to expand Swift's role in the passing game for the upcoming season.
