BCCI bans Rohit Yadav for 2 years over age fraud

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has imposed a two-year ban on Bengal legspinner Rohit Yadav for age fraud, effective immediately from September 4, 2026. The disciplinary action follows the discovery of significant discrepancies in his birth records and official documents, which have rendered him ineligible for age-group competitions. The ban rules him out of India's Under-19 squad for the upcoming home series against Australia. The irregularities were uncovered during a document verification process initiated by the Cricket Association of Bengal as part of a wider administrative crackdown. Scrutiny revealed that Rohit possessed three separate birth certificates listing different birth years: 2007, 2009, and 2010. Further inconsistencies were found in his Aadhaar records. When he first registered with the CAB, his year of birth was recorded as 2007. Subsequent updates to his Aadhaar card in 2017 and 2020 listed his birth year as 2006, before it was altered again to 2009 in 2021. His registered address was also changed from Uttar Pradesh to Howrah, West Bengal.
