BCCI Announces WPL 2027 Schedule, Auction Date

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the schedule for the fifth edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL), setting the tournament to run from January 14 to February 7, 2027. The announcement, made on September 16, 2026, also confirmed the player auction will take place on October 28, 2026, at the Grand Hyatt in Kochi. The five franchises must submit their lists of retained players by September 28, 2026, marking the first key deadline in the squad-building process. The BCCI stated that the auction will allow teams to complete and strengthen their squads for the upcoming edition. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will enter the 2027 season as the defending champions. They secured their second WPL title in 2026 by defeating the Delhi Capitals in the final. Captain Smriti Mandhana led the chase with a score of 87 off 41 balls, while Georgia Voll contributed 79 off 54 balls. Mandhana was also the leading run-scorer of the 2026 season with 377 runs. The BCCI has not yet officially announced the host cities for the 2027 tournament.
