Basecamp Research raises $140 million for AI therapies

Basecamp Research said it has raised $140 million in an oversubscribed Series C financing to develop its EDEN biological AI models and advance a pipeline of therapies, initially focused on cell treatments designed to alter patients’ cells inside the body. The round was led by S32, with participation from investors including Nvidia, Anthropic’s Anthology Fund and the NATO Innovation Fund. The London-based company says EDEN is designed to generate DNA sequences and proteins that could help insert therapeutic genetic material into cells. Basecamp intends to use the funding to train new generations of the models and move its preclinical programs toward clinical development. It also plans to expand pharmaceutical partnerships. EDEN is trained on Basecamp’s Trillion Gene Atlas, a dataset assembled with partners in more than 30 countries, according to the company. Basecamp reports that the Atlas contains information on more than 100 billion genes; its name reflects an ambition to reach a trillion genes, not a completed dataset of that size.
