Barbara Eden Cancels Festival Appearance Due to Illness

Actress Barbara Eden, 95, has canceled her scheduled appearance at the Cinecon Classic Film Festival in Los Angeles due to a sudden illness. The veteran performer, best known for her iconic role as Jeannie in the 1960s sitcom "I Dream of Jeannie," was set to receive the Cinecon Legacy Award on Saturday, September 5, 2026. Festival organizers announced Eden's withdrawal shortly before she was due to appear, sharing a statement on Facebook. "We're sorry to share that, due to a sudden illness, Barbara Eden will no longer be able to appear in person at Cinecon tonight," the statement read. Organizers added that Eden was "deeply regretful" about the last-minute cancellation, as she had been "very much looking forward to seeing everyone and celebrating with us." They expressed appreciation for understanding and sent wishes for a speedy recovery. While Eden could not attend, her former co-star Pat Boone, who appeared with her in the films "All Hands on Deck" (1961) and "The Yellow Canary" (1963), accepted the Cinecon Legacy Award on her behalf. Boone also stayed after a screening of "All Hands on Deck" to sign autographs for fans.
