Ayodhya Ram Mandir theft probe identifies 105 CCTV incidents

The Special Investigation Team probing donation theft at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya has identified 105 incidents of theft captured on the temple's CCTV cameras, the Supreme Court was informed on Monday. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, presenting the SIT's status report, told the court that the investigation is nearing completion and a charge sheet must be filed by September 25 to prevent default bail for the eight arrested accused. The 90-day statutory deadline from the first arrest expires on September 25. Mehta stated, "Ninety days from the date of the first arrest are going to be over on September 25, so we will have to file the chargesheet, otherwise they the accused will get default bail." The bench, led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, directed the concerned magistrate to handle the charge sheet in accordance with the law and ordered a copy be placed before the court after filing. The SIT report details that CCTV footage, mobile data, and call detail records form key evidence. It notes that receipts for valuables are generated through software, while the valuables are kept in a State Bank of India locker.
