Audi A2 e-tron electric hatch debuts

Published 7 September 2026

Audi is reviving the A2 nameplate with a new all-electric hatchback designed for efficiency and accessibility, set to arrive in European markets in late 2026 and early 2027. The A2 e-tron aims to blend the spirit of its unconventional predecessor with modern electric vehicle technology, positioning itself as an entry point into Audi's EV lineup. Built in Ingolstadt, Germany, the A2 e-tron is based on a version of the Volkswagen Group's MEB platform. Audi has prioritized aerodynamics, achieving a drag coefficient of 0.24 through features like an enclosed underbody, active cooling air intake shutters, and specially designed wheels. The compact hatchback measures approximately 170.1 inches in length with a wheelbase of about 109 inches, designed to maximize interior space. The interior features Audi's familiar curved display, with an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch central touchscreen. A new Softwrap fabric finish extends across the dashboard and door panels, contributing to a warmer cabin ambiance.
