Atiku names campaign leaders as Moghalu rejects policy role

Atiku Abubakar’s campaign for the 2027 presidential election has announced Kashim Ibrahim-Imam as chair of its National Campaign Council and Nasir El-Rufai as deputy chair, while economist and former central bank deputy governor Kingsley Moghalu has rejected the campaign’s announcement that he would join its policy team. The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Atiku’s behalf. It named Austin Akobundu as director-general and campaign manager and Dele Momodu as deputy director-general of the Media and Communications Directorate. The statement also said former Edo State governor John Oyegun would chair the Campaign Advisory Council. The campaign described its structure as comprising six operational directorates and 30 directors, with responsibilities allocated across the organization. It said Akobundu would oversee day-to-day coordination and implementation, while El-Rufai would handle political coordination and engagement with stakeholders. Momodu was assigned oversight of media and communications across traditional, broadcast and digital platforms.
