At least five killed in Sri City boiler explosion

An explosion involving a boiler at a TIL Healthcare manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, killed at least five workers and injured others on Saturday morning, October 3, as rescue and assessment operations continued. Tirupati Superintendent of Police L. Subbarayudu confirmed five deaths, after earlier preliminary accounts put the toll at four. The facility is in Satyavedu mandal, in Tirupati district. Reports described it as a healthcare or pharmaceutical manufacturing unit within the Sri City Special Economic Zone. The blast occurred while workers were on duty, but accounts differed on whether it happened during a morning or night shift. The number of people inside the unit at the time was not known. The number and condition of the injured were not firmly established in the available accounts.
