Artificial teaser released, Garfield as Altman
The first teaser for the upcoming film "Artificial," directed by Luca Guadagnino, has been released, offering a glimpse of Andrew Garfield as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. The film is set to premiere at the 2026 New York Film Festival on October 5 and will have a theatrical release on December 25. The movie centers on the dramatic events of late 2023, when Sam Altman was briefly ousted as CEO of OpenAI before being reinstated. The teaser features Garfield delivering a foreboding monologue as Altman, acknowledging the creation of ChatGPT and stating, "We opened Pandoras box together. The future is inevitable. Countries will fall. Industries are gonna collapse. And we get to be the ones to shepherd people into this new world." Garfield, who has stated he has never met Altman, based his portrayal on the script, interviews, and research, including court transcripts. He has expressed nervousness about the film's release, acknowledging the significant responsibility of portraying such a powerful figure. The film's cast includes Yura Borisov as Ilya Sutskever, Ike Barinholtz as Elon Musk, and Monica Barbaro as Mira Murati.
