Armed suspect lunges at Amy Acton, multiple injured at Ohio fair

An armed individual was arrested Sunday after lunging at Ohio Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton at the Canfield Fair, an incident that left multiple people injured, according to campaign officials. Acton herself was not harmed during the event, which took place at the Mahoning County Democratic Party tent near Youngstown. The suspect reportedly knocked campaign volunteers to the ground as they lunged toward Acton. Law enforcement and the Ohio State Highway Patrol, which was providing security, responded quickly and took the individual into custody. The suspect was found to be carrying weapons. A photograph from the scene appeared to show a handgun on a park bench near the arrested individual. The extent of the injuries to those affected was not immediately clear, nor was the suspect's motive. Acton and her husband, Eric, expressed gratitude for the swift actions of law enforcement and offered prayers for the recovery of those injured. "This kind of violence has no place in Ohio," said Addie Bullock, Acton's campaign communications director.
