Apple Unveils AirPods 5 With Enhanced Noise Cancellation

Apple has announced the AirPods 5, introducing a new generation of its popular wireless earbuds with enhanced noise cancellation, smarter audio features, and deeper integration with Apple's ecosystem. The new earbuds were unveiled on September 9, 2026, and will be available for purchase starting September 18. The AirPods 5 retain the familiar open-ear, tip-free design, sitting in the ear without silicone tips. Apple states that the new models offer up to 50% more noise reduction compared to the previous generation, achieved through a re-engineered internal acoustic setup and computational audio processing. This improved Active Noise Cancellation is now standard across both models. Key new features include Adaptive Audio, which automatically balances noise cancellation and transparency modes based on the user's surroundings. Conversation Awareness is also introduced, designed to lower media volume when the wearer begins speaking. The earbuds integrate with Apple Intelligence, allowing for hands-free Siri queries that can access personal information and broader knowledge.
