Apple launches Siri AI with personal context in major software update

Published 15 September 2026

Apple has released its 2027 software updates, introducing Siri AI, a rebuilt voice assistant that uses personal context from messages, photos, and emails to perform tasks. The rollout, which began on September 14, 2026, marks a significant upgrade to Apple's digital assistant, powered by the next generation of Apple Intelligence. Siri AI is designed to understand a user's personal context across native apps like Messages, Mail, and Photos, as well as third-party apps integrated with Spotlight. The assistant can answer questions related to content on a user's screen, draft emails, edit photos, and execute complex, multi-step workflows. A dedicated Siri app uses iCloud with end-to-end encryption to privately sync conversational history across a user's Apple devices. The updates are rolling out as a public beta in English, with support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish planned for October. However, availability varies by region. Siri AI will not be initially available in the European Union for iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS, though it will be accessible on Mac and Apple Vision Pro in the EU.
