Apple iOS 27 May Allow One Number on Two iPhones

Apple is preparing to release a new feature in its upcoming iOS 27 update that will allow users to share a single phone number across two iPhones. Dubbed "iPhone Handoff," the functionality aims to simplify device management for users who own multiple iPhones, eliminating the need to manually swap SIM cards, forward calls, or pay for a second cellular line. The feature was first previewed during Apple's WWDC 2026 keynote in June and has since been detailed through demonstrations and reports. iPhone Handoff operates using eSIM technology. When setting up the feature, users designate one iPhone as the main device, which retains the primary eSIM. The second iPhone receives a companion eSIM linked to the same phone number. This setup allows the phone number to remain active on whichever device is currently in use. Users will manage the feature through the Settings app under the Cellular menu. The main iPhone will serve as the central point for managing all cellular plans and account settings. Location sharing will automatically follow the active iPhone, ensuring that services like "Find My" display the current location of the phone in use.
