Apple is reportedly facing significant challenges in ramping up production of its first foldable iPhone, with suppliers producing only a few hundred units per day as recently as late August. Strict quality control requirements, particularly concerning the device's hinge and the flatness of its folding display, have slowed manufacturing and pushed commercial production back by several weeks, according to reports citing supply chain sources. The company reportedly conducted an additional round of manufacturing verification in August to ensure production quality met its exacting standards. While suppliers are working around the clock to increase output, this slowdown could make it difficult to meet anticipated market demand when the device eventually launches. Initial production volumes may lead to severely constrained inventory. The foldable iPhone, widely expected to be named the iPhone Ultra, is anticipated to be unveiled at Apple's "Surprise and shine" event on September 9.
