Apple explores four concepts for uncertain Vision Pro successor

Apple is exploring four design concepts for a possible next-generation Vision Pro headset, an early-stage project internally known as N224, according to reporting by Mark Gurman. The project’s future is uncertain, and Apple has not confirmed that it will make or release the device. If it proceeds, the headset is not expected before late 2028 or early 2029, Gurman reported. One of the concepts would move the headset’s computing components and battery into a separate external unit. The other designs have not been detailed in the reports. Apple’s senior decision-makers reportedly favor keeping the components integrated in an all-in-one headset, viewing an external computing unit as a poor user experience. The reports describe N224 as being in an early development phase, with no final design selected.
