Anthropic Brings Claude to Google Docs, Sheets and Slides

Published 7 October 2026

Anthropic has launched a public beta that brings Claude into Google Docs, Sheets and Slides through an in-app sidebar, while also offering separate connectors for creating and editing Google files from Claude. The release gives users another AI assistant option inside Google’s productivity apps, but the supplied reports do not establish how well the advertised features perform in independent testing. The sidebar works with the file a user has open. Anthropic says Claude can read its contents and selected text, cells or slides, then help draft or revise material and make changes in place. A separate set of Google Workspace connectors lets users work with Docs, Sheets and Slides from a Claude conversation, including by creating or editing files. The two workflows are distinct, and access requirements may differ between them. In Docs, the reported capabilities include rewriting and restructuring text. In Sheets, Claude can help with formulas, data cleaning and analysis, and creating items such as pivot tables. In Slides, it can create or revise content using a presentation’s existing layouts and themes.
