Antetokounmpo adjusts to Heat and targets all-time top ten
Giannis Antetokounmpo said he is growing more comfortable with the Miami Heat after two preseason games, while describing himself as an all-time top-20 player with the ambition to reach the top ten. His remarks came as he adjusts to a new team following 13 seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks. Miami beat the New Orleans Pelicans 128-118 in its second exhibition, with Antetokounmpo scoring 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting. He also recorded four rebounds and two assists, according to the game account, and sat out the second half. The Heat opened its preseason with a win over the Toronto Raptors. After the Pelicans game, Antetokounmpo said he felt more comfortable but was not fully adjusted. He noted that he had played more than 900 games with Milwaukee and only two with Miami, and said adapting to the Heat’s faster pace and learning how his new teammates play together would take time. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said Antetokounmpo was more assertive against New Orleans, getting to his spots and attacking the basket. Spoelstra said he expected the player’s comfort level to continue improving. Antetokounmpo had scored 16 of his 18 points in the paint, the game account reported.
