Anna Hazare Admitted to Mumbai ICU With Viral Infection

Social activist and anticorruption crusader Anna Hazare was admitted to the intensive care unit at Bombay Hospital in Mumbai on Monday, August 31, 2026, after his health deteriorated due to a severe viral infection and acute dehydration. The 87-year-old was transferred from a medical facility near his native village of Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra for advanced treatment. According to his aide, Hazare was initially admitted to a local hospital in Ahilyanagar district last week after experiencing urinary problems. While his condition initially improved after about three days of treatment, his creatinine levels subsequently increased, prompting doctors to recommend a transfer to Mumbai.
