Anchorage Digital Reportedly Cuts 17% of Workforce

Published 3 October 2026

Anchorage Digital is cutting about 17% of its workforce, according to a report citing people familiar with the matter, as the digital-asset company responds to weakness and cost pressures in the cryptocurrency sector. Chief Executive Nathan McCauley told employees about the reduction during the week, the report said. Anchorage has not publicly confirmed the cuts in the supplied coverage. The exact number of employees affected is unknown. In congressional testimony in February 2025, McCauley put Anchorage’s global workforce at about 400 people. Applying the reported reduction rate to that older figure would produce an estimate of roughly 68 positions, but the calculation assumes staffing has not changed and is not a confirmed count. It also represents a possible global total, not a verified number of U.S. job losses. The company has not specified which teams or business units are affected, or whether the cuts include Anchorage Digital Bank, its banking subsidiary. The available reporting does not establish that any unit is closing. Without a current headcount or details from the company, the operational scope of the restructuring remains unclear.
