Amit Shah pledges infiltrator-free India
Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated on August 25 that the Indian government has set a target to make the country free from illegal infiltration in a very short time, asserting that India is not a "dharamshala" or shelter home and that only citizens have the right to live there. Shah made these remarks while addressing the valedictory session of the Intelligence Bureau's National Security Strategy Conference in New Delhi. Shah outlined a four-pronged strategy for border security, which he said he had shared with all land-border states after visiting them over the past eight months. He described illegal infiltration as a threat to the nation's security, economy, and demographic balance.
