AMD CFO Projects $2-$3 Trillion AI Market by 2030
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) shares saw a significant increase following remarks from Chief Financial Officer Jean Hu at the Citi Global TMT Conference, where she projected the total addressable market for artificial intelligence to reach between $2 trillion and $3 trillion by 2030. The company's stock rose approximately 5% to 7% on Tuesday, continuing its upward trend into Wednesday morning. Hu characterized the current AI investment cycle as being in its early stages, emphasizing its potential as a transformative technology. She indicated that AMD's Data Center segment is expected to more than double in 2027, potentially reaching around $70 billion. Within this segment, AI GPUs are projected to account for approximately $40 billion, with server CPUs making up the remainder. AMD's Data Center revenue for the second quarter of 2026 already demonstrated substantial growth, reaching $6.72 billion, a 107% increase year-over-year, and accounted for 58% of the company's total sales. The company also provided updates on its product roadmap and supply chain. Hu stated that AMD plans to launch its MI450 GPU in the current quarter, with production expected to ramp up through 2027.
