The disciplinary case stemmed from Alisson's reaction to a contentious penalty awarded against him during the match. Footage shared on social media showed the 33-year-old kicking the fourth official's electronic substitution board, which had been placed on the ground outside the tunnel, damaging the equipment as he left the pitch. The goalkeeper's frustration had built during a controversial sequence in the second half. With the score level at 1-1 after about 70 minutes, Liverpool were preparing a triple substitution when a malfunction with the electronic board delayed the process. Nottingham Forest restarted play quickly with a throw-in, and Neco Williams drove into the Liverpool penalty area, where Alisson brought him down.
