Air India Seeks $1.5 Billion From Tata, Singapore Airlines
Air India has requested approximately $1.5 billion in fresh equity from its owners, Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, as the carrier's financial losses continue to mount during its ongoing transformation. The request, which would be one of the airline's largest publicly reported shareholder funding rounds since Tata Group took control, comes after Air India and its budget unit, Air India Express, posted combined losses of 2.33 billion for the fiscal year ended March 2026, more than double the prior year's deficit. The funding is sought in the form of fresh equity and is expected to be provided in stages.
