Air India Express flight diverted to Ahmedabad over bomb threat

An Air India Express flight from Dammam, Saudi Arabia, to New Delhi was diverted to Ahmedabad on Monday, August 31, 2026, after a crew member discovered a note with the word "bomb" written on a tissue paper in the aircraft's lavatory. The flight landed safely at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, and all 32 passengers were evacuated without incident. The Airbus A320, operating as flight IX 170, departed King Fahd International Airport in Dammam at 10:28 a.m. local time. According to Ahmedabad police, the Operations Control Centre was alerted around 3:40 p.m. that the flight was being diverted.
