AI Will Find Cancer Cure in Our Lifetime CEO Says

Artificial intelligence is poised to discover a cure for cancer within the next few decades, according to Rene Haas, the chief executive of Arm Holdings, a leading global chip designer. Haas stated that AI will be capable of solving complex biological modeling problems, such as understanding how DNA markers are affected by cancer, which are currently beyond human or existing AI capabilities. Speaking in recent interviews, Haas explained that as AI models and the computers processing them become more sophisticated, they will overcome these challenges. He believes this advancement will lead to cures that are unattainable by humans within their lifetimes. This optimism is supported by ongoing developments in AI for healthcare, including Google DeepMind's AlphaFold 3, which predicts interactions between proteins, DNA, and RNA, and the upcoming clinical trials for drugs designed by its spinoff, Isomorphic Labs. Major pharmaceutical companies like AstraZeneca, Eli Lilly, and Sanofi are also investing heavily in AI for new cancer treatment identification.
