Adria Arjona details intense training for Superman: Man of Tomorrow role

Published 28 August 2026

Actress Adria Arjona has revealed the intense physical preparation for her undisclosed role in the upcoming DC film "Superman: Man of Tomorrow," while confirming that principal photography on the James Gunn-directed sequel has concluded. In a recent interview, Arjona described a demanding training and diet regimen for the project, which reunites her with filmmaker James Gunn and DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran. "I have muscles that I've never had in my life. I'm training two to three hours a day on a crazy diet," Arjona told Screen Rant. "Drinking coffee is the only thing that keeps me up. And I'm really excited!" While the studio has not officially confirmed her character, widespread speculation points to Arjona portraying Maxima, a warrior queen from the planet Almerac first introduced in DC Comics in 1990. The character has been depicted as an ally, potential love interest, and antagonist to Superman in various comic book storylines. The film marks a significant reunion for Arjona with Gunn and Safran, who cast her in her first major feature role in the 2016 film "The Belko Experiment.
