Acosta Claims First MotoGP Win At Austrian Grand Prix

Pedro Acosta secured his first MotoGP victory at the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday, beating championship leader Jorge Martin at KTM's home Red Bull Ring circuit. The 22-year-old Spaniard, who qualified third, seized the lead from polesitter Martin on lap nine of the 28-lap race and held on to win by 1.017 seconds. The victory marked a dramatic turnaround for Acosta, who had crashed out of the lead while dominating Saturday's sprint race. He also had a spill during Sunday morning's warm-up session. Despite those setbacks, Acosta delivered a controlled performance in the main event to end his long wait for a premier-class win. "The first one is always special," Acosta said. "Nice way to close a cycle with KTM in front of all the Austrian fans. I'm super happy for them because they deserve it more than me." The win was also significant for manufacturer KTM, ending a drought in MotoGP that dated back to the 2022 season. It was the team's first victory on home soil since 2021. Martin, the 2024 world champion, finished second after leading the early stages. His Aprilia teammate Marco Bezzecchi completed the podium in third, with Trackhouse Racing's Ai Ogura finishing fourth.
