ABVP Wins Three Key Posts in Delhi University Students Union Election

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) secured three of the four central panel posts in the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections, with results declared on September 19, 2026. The student wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the positions of President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary, while an independent candidate claimed the Vice-President seat. Yash Dabas was elected DUSU President, defeating the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) candidate Vijay Shankar Meena by a margin of 2,053 votes. Riya Chhawdi won the Secretary post, and Lakshya Raj Singh was elected Joint Secretary. The Vice-President position was won by independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen, a former NSUI member who secured 30,615 votes. BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, congratulated ABVP on the victory. Shah described the result as a reflection of the youth's "unwavering faith" in ABVP's "Nation First" ideology. Singh called it a "symbol of the unwavering faith of the youth in the Nation First policy." The NSUI alleged irregularities in the counting process.
