ABC News Announces New Anchors for GMA Weekend

ABC News is introducing a new anchor lineup for its weekend "Good Morning America" broadcasts and its streaming counterpart, beginning September 12, 2026. The network announced that Rachel Scott will coanchor Saturday editions alongside Whit Johnson, while Rhiannon Ally will join Gio Benitez for Sunday broadcasts. Leslie Lopez has been named the new meteorologist for both weekend programs. The revamped schedule aims to refresh ABC News's weekend morning coverage. Scott, who holds the title of ABC News senior political correspondent, will continue her reporting duties from Washington, D.C., while also anchoring Saturday mornings from New York. Johnson, who has been a weekend anchor for "Good Morning America" since 2018, will maintain his role as the Saturday anchor for "World News Tonight." Benitez, who has coanchored "GMA Weekend" since 2023, will continue his partnership with Ally. In addition to their roles on the main broadcast, Scott, Ally, Johnson, and Benitez will also rotate as anchors for "ABC News Live Weekend." This streaming program airs at 10 a.m. Eastern time on Saturdays and Sundays and is available across ABC News's digital platforms, including Disney and Hulu.
