AAP reports 68% fall in disclosed contributions

The Aam Aadmi Party disclosed Rs 12.10 crore in contributions for the 2025-26 financial year, down about 68% from Rs 38.10 crore the previous year, according to its report to the Election Commission. Two contributors, Prudent Electoral Trust and Trident Limited, provided Rs 5 crore each, together accounting for about 83% of the disclosed total. The filing lists 1,202 numbered entries. The remaining disclosed contributions amounted to about Rs 2.10 crore. The figures cover contributions reported under disclosure rules, not the party’s full annual income, which is reported separately in audited accounts. Parties must identify contributors whose donations exceed Rs 20,000 during a financial year, so the filing does not capture every contribution. Trident’s contribution was made by cheque dated January 9, 2026. The company was founded by Rajinder Gupta, who was elected to the Rajya Sabha on an AAP ticket in October 2025 and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in April 2026. The filing records the contribution and its date but does not establish a connection between the donation and Gupta’s later party move.
