162 Haitians Deported to Haiti After TPS Ends

The Department of Homeland Security announced on August 25, 2026, that 162 Haitian nationals were deported to their home country on a flight that departed on August 20. The deportation marked the first such flight since the U.S. Supreme Court allowed the Trump administration to terminate Temporary Protected Status for Haitians, a decision that took effect on July 27. DHS stated the group included individuals with serious criminal convictions, including gang members and those convicted of sexual offenses involving minors. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said the flight included "pedophiles, gang members, drug traffickers and violent assailants.
