13 Bodies Recovered from Gandak River After Nepal Floods
At least 13 bodies have been recovered from the Gandak River in Uttar Pradesh's Kushinagar district over the past four days, officials said, as the devastating impact of Nepal's floods continues to wash across the border into India. The latest recovery on Sunday, August 30, brought four more bodies to the surface, all believed to have drifted downstream from flood-ravaged Nepal. The grim discovery follows a catastrophic glacial collapse near the Nepal-Tibet border on August 26. An ice-rock avalanche triggered a torrent of water, mud, and debris that surged down the Bhotekoshi River, devastating towns and villages across northern and central Nepal.
