11 Weapons Including AK-47s Stolen From Secunderabad Cantonment

Eleven weapons, including four AK-47 assault rifles, six pistols, and one INSAS rifle, were stolen from a high-security storage room at the Madras Regiment premises in the Secunderabad Cantonment area of Hyderabad. The theft occurred on the night of August 31, 2026, and was discovered by Army personnel the following morning. A case has been registered, and a joint investigation by military and police authorities is underway. The breach was identified when Army officials found the lock of a weapons storage room broken open and the inventory missing. The stolen cache also included live ammunition. Following an internal verification, military officials formally lodged a complaint on the morning of September 1 at the Bollarum Police Station, prompting local law enforcement to register a case and initiate an immediate investigation. The Madras Regiment facility is located within a restricted defense area with stringent entry protocols, including multiple security gates. Access is tightly monitored and restricted to authorized military personnel and a limited number of civilian outsourcing staff.
