100 Club marks 50 years of punk with £1.50 ticket shows

The 100 Club in London will mark the 50th anniversary of its legendary 1976 Punk Special with two nights of performances by contemporary bands Sprints and Maruja on September 20 and 21, 2026. In a nod to the original event, tickets for both shows will be priced at £1.50, the same cost as admission five decades ago. The original Punk Special, held on September 20 and 21, 1976, is widely regarded as a pivotal moment in the development of the UK punk movement. It featured then-unsigned acts including the Sex Pistols, The Clash, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Damned, Buzzcocks, Subway Sect, Chris Spedding, The Vibrators, and Stinky Toys. The event helped propel the underground scene into wider cultural consciousness, with notable attendees such as Paul Weller, Shane MacGowan, Viv Albertine, and fashion designer Vivienne Westwood. To celebrate this legacy, the Oxford Street venue will host Irish punk band Sprints on September 20 and Manchester experimental punk group Maruja on September 21. Support acts for both nights are yet to be announced. Tickets will go on sale at 12pm BST on Friday, September 4.
